Testimonials from Love and Logic® class participants:

The behavior or my daughter was so bad that I started to pull my hair off out of frustration. I asked Mrs. Turner for help, she directed me toward Love & Logic system, I had to relearned my techniques of been a parent, but it was worth it. The behavior of my daughter changed, I have less problems with her. I’m very happy with the results.

Thank you Mrs. Kate Tuner.
Carlos from Spring, Texas.

I am very thankful to Kate Turner for providing the opportunity for Heritage parents and teachers to take part in a 6-week Love & Logic training session.  Kate is a gifted facilitator and provided her own real-life examples on how Love & Logic strategies work for her family.

It is always my goal to become a better parent.  I am a single mother of a 7 year old girl (only child).  With my daughter being the only child and me being a first-time parent, setting limits, giving responsibilities and discipline are sometimes challenging.  I tried the parenting style of my parents and it doesn’t work most of the time.

It was very enlightening to hear during Love & Logic that my first priority is to take care of myself.  Keeping this idea “front and center” helps me to handle parenting with much less stress.  Also, the idea of raising a “thinking” child really caught my attention.  I definitely want my daughter to be able to make good, sound decisions (with and without me).

Through Love & Logic training, I was able to learn valuable techniques, which include:

  • Giving choices and having control that is shared.
  • Having my daughter own her problems and give her opportunities to think of resolutions on her own.
  • Letting empathy and consequences do the teaching.
  • Using thinking words (vs. fighting words) and enforceable statements.

I am so pleased with Love & Logic, and I continue to share what I learned from Kate with many of my friends who are parents.  While discussing our children, they often ask me what the Love & Logic solution would be for certain situations.  Hopefully, there will be more Love & Logic training in the future for parents and teachers.  I can only imagine the results if we work together to encourage “thinking” children!

I took a Love and Logic class taught by Kate Turner this summer and really enjoyed it. I have found many ideas from the class to be useful and effective with my own kids. The real-life parenting experiences shared by Mrs. Turner and other class members were especially helpful. I definitely recommend this course!

I learned of Love and Logic from Kate Turner, the counselor at the school I was teaching about five years ago.  One look at me, and she knew I was having a rough time.  We had a brief exchange and yes, it was hard to parent my one-year old and was pregnant with my second son.  I remember looking through the catalog and buying my first C.D.s.  Soon after, I attended her course and it impacted my life.

I related to her examples, enjoyed her humor, and felt at ease.  She speaks to the heart and is an enthusiastic presenter.  At the time, I wasn’t able to apply all the strategies, but the 2-3 that I did, made a difference in our home.  I have to say I have attended her class more than once and each time I took with me what I was ready to hear.  I think to make true changes, it takes time.  Thanks to her vision and support, I now facilitate the course to Spanish-speaking parents.  Like anything else, when it comes to parenting, there is no doubt that when we seek help, we find it.  We then reap the rewards: a home with more harmony and children that are decision-makers, responsible, and show self-control.  It’s a process and Kate’s courses are a means to that end.

The Love and Logic workshop presented by Kate Turner was not only a learning experience, but a joy to attend. She presented the material in a logical progression with her real life experiences  as a foundation with the participants  sharing their experiences as well. The sharing time was crucial in understanding how ‘sensible’  and ‘real life’ the concepts are for parents and educators. Each week the goal was to take a skill and use it to help children make safe and reasonable risks and take ownership of those choices. There were several times I used the skill first thing in the morning with my classroom. Over the school year, the students knew that they were responsible for their own actions and choices. Attending Kate Turner’s class was one of the best choices I have made that has greatly impacted my family as well as my classroom. I encourage my students’ families and fellow co-workers that it is time well spent.
