Are you familiar with Gary Chapman’s book – “The 5 Love Languages”? If you aren’t – I highly recommend it. ( www.5lovelanguages.com ) The premise is that all of us have a “love language” that speaks to our soul – when the love language is “spoken” – it goes to the very heart of us. The love languages are : receiving gifts, acts of service, physical touch, quality time, and words of affirmation (mine). Over the years of our marriage, I have repeatedly reminded my sweet husband of my love language – my reminders sound like:
“Gee…I’d love if you’d leave a note for me in the morning…with a sweet message.”
“I’d love if you’d text/call/email me during the day…with a sweet message.”
“HEY YOU! OVER HERE! HOW ‘BOUT SOME NICE WORDS?!”
(okay – maybe not that overt)
Men – let me just take a moment here to tell you that when you speak your wife’s love language-the dividends are, well, great/fun/exciting/positive…you get the idea.
The other night – I got a love note – written in….cheese – melted cheese to be exact.
With thoughts from the heart of me,
KT
